• The family diagnoses of Apionidae and Brentidae given by CROWSON (1955) are reviewed. Eurhininae (=Eurhynchinae) including Cylas and Eurhinus is transferred to Brentidae. Cybebus and Myrmacicelus are placed in Apioninae. The subfamily Ithycerinae or tribe Ithycerini is raised to the family rank, Ithyceridae, and placed near the Belidae. A modified key to the families related to Apionidae and Brentidae is given.
