1. The insects captured or observed on a weather ship "Ojika" located at "Tango" point, 29°N 135°E, during summer season 1967 were recorded. Additional observations made on the other ship "Nojima" were also given. 2. During this season the prevailing wind is westery or south-westery caused by the presence of the Ogasawara High Pressure. 3. Throughout the season the dragonfly, Pantala flavescens, was continuously encountered. When the typhoon No.10 passed the "Tango" point an enormous number of this dragonfly was recognized to crowd at the center of the typhoon. 4. During June, the moths, Utethesia pulchelloides vaga, Herse convolvuli, Lagoptera juno, Macroglossum saga, visited the light of the ship ; during July one male of Aganais ficus was captured. The first two species are known as migratory moth, but subsequent two species have not been thought to be migratory in Japan, the last has not been recorded from north of Taiwan, excepting an accidental record at Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture. 5. An enormous swarm of the leaf-hopper, Sogata furcifera, incl. a few Nilaparvata lugens, attacked the ship in the middle of a few individuals also came to the ship in the middle August. The westery wind during this flight suggests the flight-route of these leaf-hoppers. 6. During August the butterflies, Vanessa indica and V. cardui were captured. Overseas dispersal of these butterflies has not been recorded in Japan, but it seems not to conflict the fact that both the species are most frequently met with from great many small annexed islands of Japan. 7. During late August a noctuid, Prodenia litura, was captured. This is a recent agricultural pest occurring late autumn season in Japan. 8. The housefly, Musca domestica, the stable-fly, Muscina stabulans, and Lispe assimilis were encountered, the last species is a bog-dweller but has not been recorded from Japan hitherto.
