Investigations were made upon the distribution of the Cerambycid-beetles in the Izu Islands which are located to the south of Izu Peninsula in the Pacific Ocean. The Cerambycid fauna of the islands seems to consist mainly of the species discended from the central regions of Japan Mainland, the species with centers of distribution in south-western Japan or farther south, and only subordinately, of the species of Micronesian origin. The Oriental species which are apparently the Warm Current-borne were recorded more abundantly in Hachijo Island which is flanked by the main stream of the Warm Current than in Oshima Island, where the influence of the current is milder. Such relationships between the distribution and the sea current were observed characteristically with xylophagous species and not with phylophagous species. The effect of the Warm Current on the distribution of the Oriental species in Japan Mainland was also referred to.
