The author, using the X-ray tester, classified fluxes in 3 kinds, from the amount of blow holes appeared in the deposit-metal produced by single-fluxed electrode, and then he showed that the finer the grain of flux, the lesser the blow holes, which fact had a remarkable effect on the improvement of the fatigue limit of the welded pieces. Finally, he suggested to select the mixed "Flux", of which at least 70% must be the lesser blow-holed fluxes, to get a superior coated-electrode. As the fluxes chosen to add the required elements in the deposit-metal generally gave unfabourable results on the problem of the blow hole, he also suggested that these elements must be added in the wire, instead of in the "flux".
