Chromosomes of the Tenthredo olivacea-mesomelas Group (Hymenoptera, Tenthredinidae)

Karyotypes have been described in seven allied species of the Tenthredo olivacea-mesomelas group : T. takeuchii (TOGASHI), T. olivacea KLUG, T. subolivacea (TAKEUCHI), T. pseudolivacea omega (TAKEUCHI), T. convagenata (TAKEUCHI), T. nitidiceps (TAKEUCHI) and T. opaciceps (TAKEUCHI). The haploid number of chromosomes is 10 in all the species studied. Karyotypes are very similar in species of the mesomelas subgroup and rather different in species of the olivacea one. The degree of karyological differences between these species seems to be considerably correlated to that of their morphological differences. There is no necessity for dividing the group into two subgroups karyologically.
