Leucoma candida (STAUDINGER), theretofore known to be distributed in Hokkaido and northern parts of Honshu, Japan, was discovered in Osaka Prefecture in 1971. This species was bivoltine in Osaka and overwintered in early larval stages. Adult eclosion took place from early June to early July (overwintering generation) and from early to late September (first generation). Eggs were deposited in a mass on a tree-trunk of host plants (poplar and willow). The mature larvae congregated under shelters (small space under stone, paper, fallen leaves, etc. on the ground) in the day time, climbed up trees to feed in the evening and came down on the ground in the next morning. Pupation was done under shelters and adult eclosion took place from evening to night (17 : 00-22 : 00). Mating behavior was observed at 1hr before dawn and it terminated at sunrise.
