Relation between dispersal and population density was experimentally analyzed with 3rd instar larvae of a mosquito, Culex pipiens molestus FORSKAL. The cumulative number of individuals disappeared from a small space that was enclosed by a barrier (paper wall with a few exits) was counted at successive intervals of time. The rate of dispersal was not dependent on density of initially introduced individuals. The time-dispersal curve did not fit well with models proposed by KONO (1952) and by MORISITA (1954), and new one seemed to be necessary.
