Based upon the continuous observation with a particular nest some accounts are given on the foundress behaviour of Vespa crabro flavofasciata CAMERON in early nesting stage with special reference to the appearance of polyethism between foundress and workers after the appearance of the latter. The foundress first ceases her extranidal activities with worker emergence, then, intranidal activities except for oviposition in the course of colony development. The most remarkable feature after the emergence of workers is that the foundress becomes to spend her most time at rest on the comb only with occasional cell patrol and trophallaxis with workers and larvae.
