1. Nickel particle ingested by Amoeba (proteus type) was moved by magnetic force, and the relation between the local viscosity and the flow rate of endoplasmic sol was studied. 2. In general, the higher the streaming rate was, the lower was the viscosity. The maximal and minimal values of viscosity were 12.0 and 0.09 gm・cm^<-1>・sec.^<-1> respectively. 3. In a single amoeba it often happened that the local protoplasmic viscosity was constant irrespective of the change in flowing rate of the protoplasm. Therefore it was suggested that the mechanisms to induce the viscosity change and the protoplasmic streaming might be independent of each other. 4. These results seem to be explained by assuming the change in the molecular configuration of protoplasmic proteins as a cause of sol-gel transformation in amoeba.
