Some collections of drosophilid flies in Hokkaido were attempted during a period from April of 1951 to November of 1955, using small jars baited with fermenting fruits, such as banana, tomato, peach, cherry, cantalop and water-melon. The species so far obtained are 27 in number, six of them occurring at very low frequencies : they are D. alboralis, D. helvetica, D. lutea, D. magnipectinate, D. kuntzei, D. cameraria. D. coracina, D. bifasciata, D. transversa, D. histrio, D. helvetica, D. kuntzei, and D. cameraria, D. unimaculata have preveiously been recorded from the palaearctic region. D. unimaculata was described by Strobl in 1893 from Austria, and recorded by Burla (1951) from Vorauen and Laufen in Switzerland. This species has been obtained in 4 localities of Hokkaido, particularly in the road-side on Mt. Asahi and shore of Lake Akan. Some records on the distribution and biotope preferences were given in the following species ; D. busckii, D. suzukii, D. lutea, D. hydei, D. helvetica, D.kuntzei, and D. cameraria. D. auraria, type A and type B, and D. bifasciata were found to be active in both evening and morning. Dense population was recorded in D. auraria, type A, in southern Hokkaido and in D. bifasciata in northern Hokkaido.
