The spontaneous contraction curves of the toad's bladder were statistically analyzed. 1. As shown in Fig. 3 A, the serial correlation coefficients of the intervals of waves significantly drop with time. This finding seems to indicate that all contraction waves are initiated in the bladder at random. 2. Adrenaline (1/10^<-5>) causes a striking change in the rhythem of contraction, namely, the intervals of waves are shortened. This shows that adrenaline stimulates many points of the bladder. 3. Mathematical analysis of complicated contraction waves suggests that the fundamental wave is a very simple one and lasts for about 13 seconds (Fig. 4 and 5).
