1) A strip preparation of the bladder muscle of Bufo vulgaris was stimulated by direct current of long duration. On the smoked drum, contraction curves were recorded, and on which the latent periods (i. e. response time) of the contractions were measured. The reaponse times were prolonged as to making the stimulating current weaker. The relation between the current strength and the response time was elucidated to be hyperbolic. 2) The current strength and the corresponding "Nutzzeit" were measured, adopting the minimal contraction of the bladder strip as the indicator. In this way the "strength-duration curve" was pursued, and on which the empirical formula of Weiss was clear to be valid. 3) If direct current is made through the bladder which is in the state of autonomic contraction, the current always evokes the extra-contraction and increase of the tonus. But when the current is broken, the extra-contraction occurs if the autonomic mobility is in the phase of relaxation, and it does not occur in the phase of contraction. After breaking the current, the automatic mobility is restrained for short time. 4) In the case of direct current stimulation, it was hard to recognize the validity of "law of polar excitation" on the bladder muscle. Since the muscular fibers of the bladder formed irregular network. 5) The rate of conduction of contraction wave was found to be about 10 mm per sec.
