The latent period of the action potential evoked by the anodal break excitation was measured. And then conduction time for to propagate the impulse from the anode, at where the break excitation occures, to the leading electrode was determined. From those data, the author calculated the response time (Rt) of nerve and muscle when stimulated by anodal break shock. The duration (T) of the stimulating current and strength of it, have similar effect independently each other upon the response time. Keeping T constant, V-Rt relation was pursued, and then keeping V constant, T-Rt relation was observed. Both relations were hyperbolic and for the former alone, Weiss's experimental formula was valid. The authors discussed the relation among T, V and Rt, and was able to express it graphycally. From the experimental results, they were convinced that "counter current theory" is valid for the mechanism of anodal break excitation.
