This paper describes a class of broadband antennas for Multi-Mode system applications. It discusses several antennas with achieved experimental results. These antennas are able to cover several GHz either in single element or array forms. The concept of these antennas is mainly the use of broadband Monopole type antenna applied to Surface Mounted Components. The monopole arrangement is then fed through a printed transmission line avoiding the use of a classical coaxial feed-through point. This enables to have all the circuitry and the antenna on the same side of a printed board. Moreover, this new concept enables to lower the cost of the structure, and easy reconfiguration. Examples are shown for 1.6 to 6 GHz and X frequency bands.
