The female of poultry lice Lipeurus lawrensis tropicalis Peters lays an average of 22.6 eggs during its life span, at the rate of 2.07 eggs per day, when kept at optimum temperature (35 ±1℃) and relative humidity (80-82%). The lowering of temperature results in a reduction of the oviposition rate and also the total number of eggs laid during the life span. Though a rise in temperature above optimum level increases the oviposition rate, it results in a lowering of the total number of eggs laid. The oviposition behaviour is also discussed.
