• The Huffman code is often employed for video encoding schemes such as MPEG. In this paper, we deal with the wireless transmission of Huffman coded signals. When we consider the Huffman code transmission under the wireless environment, one of the most important points we have to take account of is that once a single error occurs in the Huffman code, it tends to propagate. We first evaluate this effect and discuss the effective transmission from the viewpoint of Huffman code tree. It is shown that an efficient transmission of the compressed video signal can be achieved with the direct-sequence spread-spectrum for wireless communications.
