System Capacity for Cellular DS/CDMA Mobile Radio with Forward-Link Power Control in Shadowing and Multipath Fading Environment

Forward-link power control is majorly used to increase system capacity and reduce corner effects in cellular mobile radio systems. Complex statistic models for channels and systems are applied and mathematic derivations with considerations of shadowing and multipath fading are done in this paper. The outage probability uses as a performance index to estimate system capacity under different conditions. According our numerical results, the system performance is dependent on fading environment, such as numbers of received paths, power level of fading, whether what kinds of power control were used in systems. Under the condition of a perfect-average power control used, the system capacity can not met designed requirements in fading environment at all. Hence, systems must be compensated for fading as possible as they can.
