Anisotropic polymer network liquid crystals(APNLC)are produced by photopolymerization of a mixture containing nematic liquid crystals and UV-curable diacrylate monomer. Liquid crystals with homogeneous alignment.along substrate surfaces were stabilized by polymer network. Cells with this structure are transparent in Off state and turn to light scattering that is highly dependent on the polarization directions of incident light in On state. Therefore, the APNLC cell behaves as a polarizer. In this investigation, APNLC cells driven at low saturated voltages with fast switching speed(<10ms)were obtained by optimization the monomer concentrations, and larger APNLC light shutters were fabricated.
