In exploration seismography, the collected signals are displayed versus surface position and arrival time. This displays cuts through the travel time surface of the wave field scattered from scatterers. By analyzing scattering from a concave-convex surface, we examine the travel time surface of cusp caustics. First we calculate scattered fields for the sinusoidal incident pulse and confirm the formation of a cusp caustic. Next we make a travel time surface of the cusp caustic by using the Gaussian pulse as an incident pulse. From the wave form transition on the travel time analysis, we can see the merging and disappearance of rays as the caustic is crossed. It is possible to infer at least qualitative information about the reflecting surface from the imaged travel time surface.
