It is necessary for target tracking to judge the target's extinction when many tracks are generated from the clutter or other targets in high dense environment such as much clutter or the other multiple targets. The examples of the target's extinction are collision of two airplanes, ships sinking, a car fallen from a cliff, and so on. In this paper, we propose a new judging method for target's extinction using the ratio of probability of target's existence to the probability of target's extinction which is calculated by PDA (Probabilistic Data Association) algorithm, when the PDA algorithm is used in track maintainance. The effectiveness of the proposed method is confirmed through computer simulation. The result of the computer simulation indicate that the proposed method is better than the conventional method with regards to a stable of judging target's extinction.
