On Optical Ray Fields

An optical ray field is introduced which satisfies the law of electromagnetic energy density flow in geometrical optics. The optical ray field satisfying Maxwell's equations is proved to be the electromagnetic plane wave field. Conversely, the electromagnetic plane wave can be newly defined by the optical ray-energy concept, apart from the definition by equiphase planes. Theoretical indexes are also proposed to how a general (electromagnetic) field shows the nature of the optical ray field (plane wave field).
