This paper presents an application of iterative channel estimation to the fading compensation using metrics comparison in burst mode COFDM transmission. In this scheme, the decision feedback channel estimation using forward error correction (FEC) is adopted and the pilot symbols inserted at both ends realize the forward and backward fading compensation. The feature of this scheme is that the decoded data is chosen by comparing the metrics of the two-way FEC. Moreover, in order to improve the bit error rate (BER) further, an iterative channel estimation technique is also applied to this scheme. This paper mainly focuses on the effectiveness of the iterative channel estimation to this scheme and evaluate it compared with the typical decision feed back channel estimation and compensation.
