Speech signal of a pathological vowel / a / with an "asthentic"vocal quality is studied by the non-stationary and noisy dynamical structure. The non-stationary property of the pathological voice is analyzed by the cross-prediction technique and the noisy components of the speech dynamics is reduced by an averaging filter. For a stationary part of the filtered speech signal, false nearest neighbor analysis and the Lyapunov spectrum analysis are further carried out.Although careful examinations are indispensable to check the reliability of the analyses, our results imply that there exists some low-dimensional nonlinear dynamics with a possible chaotic property in the pathological voice.
