A concern of an ultra low profile dipole antenna is an impedance matching because the impedance usually tends to be lowered by the existence of a metallic structure in its proximity. In this paper, we propose a new impedance matching configuration with an unbalanced feeding structure simplified by the use of a parasitic element to overcome the complexity in an impedance matching problem. A coaxial cable is used as a feed line and extended to be a half of a dipole. The other half is made up of a parasitic element which connects to the outer conductor of the coaxial cable. The outer conductor of the coaxial cable is stripped off at a suitable length to make a matching. The experiment has been conducted to verify the ability of the constructed model. The computational results are also obtained, and they agree well to the experimental results. This proposed antenna could be used effectively as an ultra low profile dipole antenna which has a small size, light weight and high gain.
