Development of High-Frequency Power Supply for Driving of Dielectric Barrier Discharge Load

Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) load is applied for ozone and ultraviolet light generation. This paper presents a simple and effective high-frequency power supply for driving this load in low power applications. Based on the E-class soft-switching quasi-resonant inverter with pulse density modulation scheme, this inverter type power supply has shown superior performances on the prototype 15-30W load and can be also applied for driving higher power load up to several hundreds watt. In this paper the basic design principals are explained and the achieved performances are presented. As well, simple generation circuit for pulse density modulated signal developed for regulation of the output power is introduced.
