Measurements of hydrohone response over audio-frequency range are usually performed in the sea where the acoustic free field is realized. But, such measurements are not convenient for occasional tests of many hydrophones. We have tried the measurement of hydrophne response in the reverberant field using white noise source in a circular water tank concrete wall. In this tank, the acoustic presure distribution was measured in details when a sound source generating 1/3 octave band noise was placed in the neighbourhood of the tank wall. It was proved as the result of measuerments that an approximately uniform sound pressure distribution exixts near the central portion of the tank in the frequency range above 500c/s. In this field, hydrophone response was measuered with calibration technique based on comparison method. The response obtained by this method is in good agreement with the one obtained by the free field method in the sea.
