Hemi-mandibulectomy was performed in young mongrels, which were divided into two groups after same operative procedure. Group I consists of animals which were treated with internal splint and group II those without internal splint. The radiographic and histopathological research was carried out. The results were as follows : 1. Neoformation of the resected mandible occurred in both groups by regeneration of bone. 2. The radiograph showed good formation 30 days postoperative and verified bone continuity throughout the healing histologically. 3. Those in group I were restored close to normal formation than those in group II. 4. It was found that internal splint did not prevent osteogenic repair of bone defect as harmful stimulation, and further had the effects of the contribution to the functional reconstruction of the mandible. 5. The substitute of the joint showed the tendency to have advantage to restore the histological constitution of the mandibular joint repair. Following the experimental study, the functional and cosmetic results were obtained by the use of simple internal splint. And this revealed significantly the clinical indication in dealing with large loss subsequent to the mandibulectomy in the juvenile.
