Just as native English speakers can be coached into being more effective public speakers and presenters, so can low-intermediate learners of English. This paper presents supplementary activities that can be used to teach the public speaking aspect of giving presentations to low-inter-mediate learners of English. These activities will improve student awareness of what constitutes a good public speaker and will provide opportunities for students to practice and improve their public speaking skills. The activities are divided into four sections: 1. The Role of Posture, Eye Contact and Voice 2. The Role of the Voice: Pauses, Stress and Inflection 3. The Role of Body Language and Gestures 4. Putting it all Together Although the activities are aimed at low-intermediate learners of English, they can be easily adapted for higher level students. Suggestions for alternative activities are noted after each activity. All activity materials may be found in the activity appendix at the end of the paper.
