This paper describes the process and results of adapting the Silent Way Sound-Color Chart for teaching pronunciation in a communicative classroom. The background describes the starting point for this process and is followed by a brief introduction to the Silent Way approach to language teaching. The beliefs, constraints and concerns that shaped the adaptation of the chart are discussed, and the resulting classroom activities: preparation, presentation, pair work, review and evaluation, are described in detail. After the presentation of student feedback, the paper concludes with a discussion of whether the adaptation of the Silent Way Sound-Color Chart was successful or not. It is hoped that this paper will serve three purposes. One, to provide insight into the process of course design. Two, to offer a suggestion of how to adapt the Sound-Color Chart for use in a communicative classroom. And finally, to add another perspective to the discussion of teaching pronunciation.
