A simple, automatic method for high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was developed for the analysis of homovanillic acid (HVA) and vanilmandelic acid (VMA) in urine. An eluent consisting of 5 M acetate buffer, pH 4.6, was delivered through a column of anion exchange resin, and diluted urine samples were directly introduced into it by an autoinjector at intervals of 40 min. The detector was of a voltammetry type.
