• The coloration of iron(III)-thiocyanate complexes in acidic solution was dependent on the kind of coexistent polyoxyethylene nonionic surfactants , RO(CH_2CH_2O)_nH. The surfactants with R = oleyl group allowed not to fade the red complexes for 120 min or more . The average addition number (n) of ethylene oxide groups for the surfactant affected the color intensity. When n>____20, ε = 2.2 x 10^4 mol^<-1> dm^3 cm^<-1>(at 480nm).
