This paper deals with hot press experiments on defibrinated blood glue. The results obtained from these experiments are as follows : -(1) A better gluing strength of the defibrinated blood glood glue is obtained adding a small amount of alkali.(2) In order to make plywood with 3 sheets of rotary-cut veneers of birch, each having the thickness of 1.5mm, the following conditions are necessary.(a) The time of pressing : 10-15 minutes.(b) The temperature required for gluing : 110-130℃.(c) Joining pressure : about 25kg/cm^2 (3) It is preferable that the plywood glued should be taken out of the press after the temperature of its platens drops by about 5-10℃.(4) An adequate amount of glue spread is from 0.02 to 0.025 grams per square centimeter.(5) When the glue mixture is prepared from the dry defibrinated blood glue and water, it is preferable that the proportion of water to glue should be within 2.5 to 1 of defibrinated blood glue in weight.(6) When pressure is applied 20-40 minutes after the glue is spread on the veneer, the strongest gluing strength is obtained.(7) The working life of the defibrinated blood is fairly long.(8) The defibrinated blood glue is a highly water-resistant glue, and its water-resistance can be made stronger by the addition of couprous salt. But if it is added dxcessively, the gluing strength decreases because the glue becomes jellylike.(9) When completely protected against moisture change, the dry defibrinated blood glue can be used for considerably long period.(10) The plywood which has glued with the defibrinated blood glue come off completely when subjected to a long period of moisture changes caused by alternate wetting and drying. but it fairly witstands exposure to sunlight.
