Medical and Technical Problems and Complications during and after Tracheobronchial Stent Implantation

From July 1993 through December 1997 102 stents were implanted in 72 patients (1.4 stents per patient). The charts of 72 patients were reviewed retrospectively and all complications during and after implantation were listed. Complications were separated into technical and medical ones. Apart from the more common complications, some special complications can occure. Some of these are presented and their origin, diagnostic, therapeutic procedures and prevention are discussed. The further prevention of complications was the main aim of the study.
