Development of a "no-battery" analog quartz watch is reported in this paper. The basic theory of this watch is that photoenergy is converted into electric energy and stored in a capacitor, and modules are driven by this energy. When the theory was first put into practice, there were some problems to be solved. The problems were overcome by developing some new devices such as a) an a-Si solar cell which is highly efficient, b) a miniature condenser with large capacitance, and c) a motor which operates at low power within a wide voltage range. Introduction of these devices resulted in the development of a dressy no-battery analog quartz watch. After being charged with sunlight for about 3 minutes, the watch can work for two days without any other power supply. Theoretically, the technology used here should operate the watch endlessly.
