An electro-transformation method was established for facultatively alkaliphilic Bacillus pseudofirmus OF4. A high osmolarity electroporation medium with a high electric field strength was effective. Transformation efficiency improved 110-fold in glycine-treated cells compared to non-glycine-treated cells. Under optimum conditions, the transformation efficiency was 1.69×10^6 transformants per μg of pUB110.
