By monitoring cellulase production at relatively short intervals a drop in the cellulase production profile was noticed. This phenomenon was assumed to be due to a shift in the metabolism of the organism from amorphous to crystalline cellulose and to the destruction of some cellulase due to shearing during the period of metabolism shift.
