• To test whether calmodulin is present in the red alga Susabi laver (Porphyra yezoensis), materials was concentrated from this alga, using hydrophobic chromatography. In this case, 0. 25M (NH_4)_2SO_4 should be added to bind the protein to the column in the presence of 5 mM CaCl_2. Calmodulin is present in the marine red alga, although at a very low concentration.
