Organophosphorus insecticides inhibit growth and fermentation processes in Aspergillus niger. Production of oxalic acid was reduced by 5.3〜52.6% as compared to the control in presence of Dimecron, Lebaycid, Nogos, and Malathion (40 μg/ml). A similiar inhibition pattern was noted with the formation of citric acid. Increase in residual sugar and inorganic phosphate of culture medium together with growth inhibition suggests an affectation of oxidative processes.
