During screening for new streptothricin-type antibiotics, a Streptomyces sp., strain NT 1009,was found to pruduce streptothricin B as a single component.This antibiotic showed a lower antimicrobial activity against bacteria than racemomycin A, whereas its toxicity including delayed toxicity was higher than that of racemomycin A.
