A series of studies on the heart sounds and the carotid pulse-wave have been conducted by the authors' department using a new multichannel method of wireless telemetering. The compact, light-weighted and easily applicable system is sensitive enough to recognize correct starting point of the pulse-tracing and to open a new field for clinical study on abnormal hemodynamics. Four patient groups and control group were studied using the Master's two step test and tracings were made during and after exercise with various time intervals. Group averages plotted at each time. interval (of patients with myocardial metabolic disorders) indicate a significant shortening of the interval between the first and second heart sounds during exercise followed by a very slow recovery. Although the telemetering ECG is useful in detecting anoxic changes of the myocardium coronary insufficiency, the new method of radiophonocardiography and wireless telemetering of the carotid pulse-wave is more effective for early detection of the myocardial metabolic disorder. It is believed that the application of this new method will achieve a great clinical importance in near future.
