The purpose of the present study is to compare the home conditions, child-rearing attitudes of mothers and behavior traits of children in mother-absent homes with those of children in average homes. The methods used here are the behavior estimate of teachers and guess-who-test. The results obtained are as follows : (1) Generally speaking, the home conditions of the absent hemes are worse in comparison to the average. (2) The processes and attitudes of child-rearing are differentiated between the two. (3) The children in the nuclear absent homes are less responsible and less cooperative. (4) The children in the compound absent homes are more withdrawal and lonesome, but they are relatively more patient and responsible. These results are very suggestive of the nature of homemaking education in senior high schools.
