For the fundamental work to reconstruct the homemaking education (HE), following four theories concerning the postwar HE are selected and investigated. 1. Theories of HE in the early period after the war. 2. Theories as the learning concerning the reproduction of the labor force. 3. Theories of HE as the technical education. 4. Theories as the learning for reorganization of the family life. In such investigations, following three points are ascertained, and considered for the reconstruction of HE. 1. It is essential to have the viewpoint that education should be connected with the family life and the produtive labor. 2. The already socialized parts such as food, clothing, housing and child care should be also introduced to its own area of HE. 3. The recovery from the human alienation on social scale is to be considered as one of the purposes of HE.
