The prediction of turbulent flow separation from smooth surface under adverse pressure gradient is one of challenging tasks of engineering turbulence modeling. In the present study, effects of near-wall treatment is examined by comparing different types of turbulence models including isotropy eddy viscosity models (EVM) and algebraic stress models; two variations of EVM include k-ε and q-ζ models, which adopt a combination of turbulence parameters which vary in different manner in the vicinity of the wall, so that the influence of the wall asymptotic behavior may be examined. Besides, the algebraic stress model is used once in the original form covering up to the wall, and also used in combination with the wall function approach. The application of these models to the computation of separating flow in an asymmetric plane diffuser indicates that the expression of the anisotropy in Reynolds stress has principal influence on the prediction of this type of separating flow, and the wall-asymptotic behavior has only minor influence.
