Natural convection heat transfer in a vertical rectangular space subject to constant heat fluxes from the side has been studied analytically and numerically. The range of Rayleigh number covered in the present study is much greater than that previously reported, and our primary concern is put on the existence of oscillatory regime at high Rayleigh numbers. However, all the numerical results of two-dimension indicate that the solution is steady at the Rayleigh number as high as 7x10^<13>. Steady numerical solutions of temperature and velocity profiles in the boundary are well compared with the analytical ones, thereby this work proves the applicability of the analytical formula in 10^5<Ra<10^<14>. A few three-dimensional computations are also conducted, and it is found a good agreement with the analytical results.
