The creep deformation behavior and its relationship with the microstructural instability during creep were investigated for a nickel-base Udimet 500 superalloy subjected to the creep tests in the temperature interval range from 800 to 1000℃ for up to 29,000 hours. All of the creep curves under the different test conditions consist of very shorter transient creep region stage and longer acceleration creep region stage. In the tertiary creep region, the acceleration of creep rate occurs in two stages. Moreover, the microstructural evolutions such as the coarsening of γ' phase, the precipitation of σ phase, grain boundary nature and internal nitridation attack were analyzed.
