Creep tests of high temperature resistant silicon carbide fibers were performed in air and in an Ar gas flow at 1373-1823K. The creep apparatus equipped with short heaters and laser interferometers. The fiber deformation curves in whole length revealed that NL-202 began to creep at 1400-1450K and Hi-Nicalon-S began to creep at 1700-1750K. The detailed estimation of the absolute creep rates was performed on Hi-Nicalon at various conditions. Estimated creep rates were small on the whole as compared with the reported values. This should be due to the minimum decomposition of the tested filaments during the minimum deformation.
