A new aero-engine of 470 H.P. has been completed in the Mitsubishi Nainenki Kaisha (Mitsubishi Internal Combustion Engine Co., Ltd.) on April 1925. This is the first and the most powerful aero-engine designed and manufactured in Japan. The leading partioulars of the engine are : -Normal H.P.=470 H.P. Normal R.P.M.=1600 r.p.m. (direct drive). Number and arrangement of oylinders=12,three lines on four cranks. Bore=140 m.m. Stroke=170 m.m. Compression ratio=58. Total length=1400 m.m. Total width =1170 m.m. Total height=1070 m.m. Total weight with propeller hub, magnetos, carburettors and hand starter, but without lubrication oil, cooling water and silencer=402 kgs. Weight per H.P.=0.855 kgs. Fuel consumption per H.P.hour =0.220 kgs. 50 hours endurance test of the engine has been successfully passed between 14th and 18th April, 1925. This test comprised 8 sections of 5 hours test and 1 section of 10 hours test ; each test consisting of 58 minutes of normal H.P. at normal r.p.m., 4 or 9 hours of 0.9 of normal H.P. and 2 minutes of full power. The average figures of the test results are : - [table] The maximum H.P. obtained at normal r.p.m. was 495 H.P.
