This research is to clarify the location of the cephalin in the red cell which works as the deter-minant group of the "Erythron-Allergy", following up the research of Dr. Maekawa and his collaborators. The said researchers observed a profound anemia as a result of allergic manifestations in red cell not only circulating blood but also in bone marrow when the rabbit is sensitized and reinjected with the mixture of red cell cephalin and beef serum, and they concluded that the red cell cephalin plays the role of the determinant group in "Erythron-Allergy". We did several experiments using cephalin extracted from red cell stroma by means of the osmotic hemolysis, and obtained the following result: 1) When the rabbits are sensitized and reinjected with the mixture of red cell stroma cephalin and beef serum, typical "Erythron-Allergy" appears after reinjection. 2) When the red cell cephalin alone is injected after sensitization of the said mixture and a few days before reinjection of the same antigen, the "Erythron-allergy" is inhibited, which was expected to appear after reinjection. 3) Also when red cell stroma cephalin alone is injected after sensitization using the mixture of red cell cephalin and beef serum and before reinjection of the same antigen, the "Erythron-Allergy" is inhibited. Based on these three observation, it is concluded that the red cell stroma cephalin has the same antigenicity as the red cell cephalin when it plays the role of the determinant group in "Erythron-Allergy" Considering, in addition to this conclusion, the wellknown fact that about 90% of cephalin in red cells exists in their stroma, it is presumable that the cephalin as the determinant group in "Erythron-Allergy" is supplied from the red cell stroma.
