Plasmin prepared from the dog plasma was injected intravenously into rabbits and the marked decrease was developed in thrombocyte count, accompanying the activation of the hematic plasmin. Plasma and serum samples of the rabbits taken out after the injection, having strong plasmin activity, showed reduction in the number of platelets in vitro. When plasmin was added to platelets in vitro, the lysis of platelets were observed. Those phenomena observed in vitro suggest that the diminution in thrombocyte count observed in vivo may be to the increase in plasmin activity. The fall in thrombocyte count and the increase of plasmin activity were observed in the rabbits sensitized and shocked with egg-albumin. The records of thrombocyte count and plasmin activity in 64 cases of various diseases were also investigated. The low titer of the thrombocyte count was comparatively observed frequently when plasmin activity was heightened; it was notably evident in the cases of the hepatic disease.
