Comparison of the forming characteristics between the hydraulic bulging and the punchstretching was made with a proposal of the deformation constitutional diagram which would be available for the understanding of the deformation state and path, with respect to the plastic instability and fracture behavior of sheet metals and the relation between the freedom of deformation and the planar anisotropy in mechanical properties. The deforming behavior in the hydraulic bulging can be regarded as a type of resistance to deformation dependence, while the punch-stretching limit is strongly governed by the minimum ductility, in the presence of planar anisotropy in mechanical properties of sheet metals.
